Jewellery Consignments

What is Jewellery Consignment anyways?

Consignment is the act of consigning, the act of giving over to another person or agent’s charge, custody or care any material or goods but retaining legal ownership until the material or goods are sold. Thank you Wikipedia.

All sorts of valuable and precious jewellery Items can be sold through consignment such as diamond rings or other diamond jewellery as well as fine coloured gemstone jewellery and rings, designer pieces, estate collections, unworn jewellery or wedding/engagement rings which are no longer desired.

Consigning your fine jewellery will generally net you more money rather than trying to sell your jewellery yourself.

Forget about the hassles and costs of getting your jewellery cleaned, polished, inspected, repaired if necessary, valued, photographed, listed and or on displayed. Not to mention the customer enquiries, meet ups, negotiations, closing the sale and fulfilling the order.

Consignment processes and fees vary between agents. Some agents charge an agreed set price upon sale while others may charge a % of the sale price achieved. There may also be some set up costs involved too.

Also check the consignment terms offered by the agent. Some may charge fees and some may have minimum time requirements. You must retain full rights to the item(s) and be able to cancel the agreement and request the item be returned at any time. Having your jewellery on consignment may take some time to sell and receive payment. It is also advisable to check your items are insured whilst with the agent.

The job of a good agent is to accurately assess, present, promote and sell your item(s) for the best possible price without locking you in to any contracts, offers good communication, updates and recommendations to achieve a sale.
